Special Scenarios when Removing a Card
Lost Debit Card or Closed Account
If your debit card is lost and canceled by the bank, you will need to provide a recent bank statement in PDF format displaying your name and last known Betr transactions. If your bank account is closed, we will request proof of account closure and a bank statement with at least one betr transaction. All banks are legally required to maintain records up to 5 years after your bank account is closed. This allows Betr to verify your identity and transactions appropriately. The final step will involve standard identity verification of your ID.In the case of frozen or stolen cards, additional documentation such as a photo of the card and statements showing relevant transactions may also be requested.
Required Documentation
To verify your identity, you must provide:
A photo of the debit card associated with your account, showing only the name, last four digits, and expiration date (other details must be blocked).
PDF bank statements with your name, address, account number, and any Betr transaction visible (unrelated transactions should be blocked for privacy).
Valid State-Issued ID
Why Is This Process Required?
The due diligence and verification processes ensure compliance with Betr's security standards and prevent unauthorized financial activities, securing user accounts and transactions.Re-adding previously removed debit cards is discouraged to avoid complications during future withdrawal attempts.Additionally, using alternative withdrawal methods like linked bank accounts, PayPal, or Venmo can prevent recurring issues related to debit card removals.
