Why can't I withdraw or redeem my funds?

Payment method issues, unsupported cards, and "Withdrawal Unavailable" errors

Why can't I withdraw or redeem my funds?

Betr's payment process may restrict withdrawals or redemptions for a few common reasons: no linked payment method, an unsupported card type, or a required distribution. This article walks through each scenario and how to resolve it.

No Linked Payment Method

You can't withdraw or redeem until you've linked a payment method by making a minimum deposit or purchase.

Unsupported Card & Payment Types

The following are never eligible for withdrawal or redemption, on any product:

  • Prepaid cards: gift cards, employee pay cards, Cash App cards, PayPal Debit cards, Apple Cash cards.

  • Digital wallet cards: Apple Pay.

Use a standard Visa or Mastercard debit card instead, or one of the other supported methods below.

Supported Payment Methods — by Wallet

Wallet

Supported methods

Betr Picks & Arcade (Fantasy Wallet)

Visa/Mastercard debit, PayPal (linked to a bank account), Venmo (linked to a bank account), online banking/bank transfer.

Social Sportsbook & Casino (Social Wallet)

Visa/Mastercard debit, online banking/bank transfer only.

PayPal and Venmo are not supported for withdrawals/redemptions on Social Sportsbook or Casino, even though they work on Betr Picks and Arcade.

Required Distribution

If you've deposited with more than one payment method, Betr may require funds to route back to their original source before releasing the rest to a new method. See What is Required Distribution? for the full explanation, a worked example, and FAQ.

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Replaced a card? Remove the old one in the Manage debit card section, then link the new one with a fresh deposit before attempting a withdrawal.

  2. Multiple cards with pending balances? Settle or withdraw to them first to clear any required distribution, then select your preferred card for the remainder.

Withdrawal/Redemption Rejected After Approval?

Withdrawals/Redemptions go through two stages: Betr approves the request first, then an external payment processor or bank handles final processing. If that second stage rejects the transaction, the funds are returned to your Betr account rather than reaching your bank.

Common reasons this happens:

  • Payment processor rejection — the processor declines the transaction due to an unsupported method or gaming-related restriction.

  • Mismatched account details — your personal or payment details don't exactly match your Betr account information.

  • Bank restrictions — some banks block gaming-related transactions.

  • Required distribution — see the section above if you've funded your account with more than one payment method.

To resolve: double-check that your personal and payment details match your Betr account exactly, confirm you're using one of the supported methods for your wallet (see the table above), and wait 24–48 hours before retrying if you've had multiple failed attempts. If issues persist, contact your bank directly — Betr is not able to see the specific reason a processor rejected a transaction, so your bank may have the most details.

FAQ

Why must I make a deposit to enable withdrawals?

Depositing with a payment method links and verifies it as belonging to you, which is required before you can withdraw to it.

Can I withdraw to Venmo or PayPal?

Yes, on Betr Picks and Arcade, provided the account is linked to a bank account. Not supported on Social Sportsbook or Casino — see the table above.

Why did my PayPal withdrawal fail?

PayPal withdrawals require a linked bank account. Ensure your PayPal account is properly linked before attempting the withdrawal again.

Still Stuck?

If you're still unable to withdraw or redeem after checking the above, contact Betr Support in the app for assistance.
