When you withdraw/redeem funds from your Betr account, you may see a step called Required Distribution. This is a security measure designed to protect your funds and your account by ensuring withdrawals/redemptions are returned to the same verified payment method(s) you used to deposit or make a purchase. By routing funds back through the original source, it helps prevent unauthorized transactions and keeps your money moving through trusted, verified channels.
How It Works
Every time you make a deposit or purchase, Betr tracks which payment method you used and how much you deposited/purchased. When you go to withdraw or redeem, the app will require you to send funds back to each payment method before you can direct any remaining balance to a new card or payment method.
For example, say you deposit $10 with Card A and $100 with Card B. Your Required Distribution would be $10 to Card A and $100 to Card B. If you then play and your balance grows to $300, the app will ask you to withdraw at least $10 to Card A and $100 to Card B. The remaining $190 (your winnings) can go to whichever card you prefer.
What happens after I fulfill my Required Distribution?
Once you've withdrawn/redeemed the full required amount back to each payment method, your Required Distribution resets to $0. It stays at $0 until your next deposit or purchase.
What if I only withdraw part of the required amount?
If you withdraw or redeem some — but not all — of the required amount to a payment method, the remaining amount stays as your Required Distribution for that card. If you then make a new deposit with that same card, the new deposit amount is added on top of whatever required amount was still outstanding.
Why does Betr do this?
Required Distribution is a standard payment security practice. It helps prevent fraud and ensures that funds are returned through the same verified channels they came from. This protects both you and Betr.
What if I can't withdraw to a payment method with a required distribution?
If you are unable to withdraw or redeem to a payment method with a required distribution, please contact Support in the Betr App.
FAQ
Does the required distribution mean I owe Betr money?
No, Required Distribution does not mean you owe anything to Betr. It simply means that when you withdraw, a portion of your funds must be sent back to the original payment method(s) you used to deposit. The money is yours — Required Distribution only determines where it goes, not whether you owe it. Think of it as a routing rule, not a balance due.
Do I lose money if I remove a card with a required distribution?
No, removing a payment method does not mean you lose any funds. Your account balance remains the same.
Quick tips
You can always see your current Required Distribution amounts during the withdrawal/redemption process.
The best way to avoid having to worry about the required distribution is by sticking with one payment method. Using multiple will force you to withdraw/redeem with multiple as well.
Avoid prepaid cards, including gift cards, rewards cards, Cash App, and Apple Cash.
