How do I deposit or purchase funds?

Everything about depositing to your Fantasy Wallet or making a purchase in your Social Wallet — payment methods, limits, troubleshooting declined transactions, and linking new methods.

How to Deposit or Purchase

Betr lets you deposit funds into your Fantasy Wallet (Betr Picks & Arcade) or make a purchase in your Social Wallet (Social Sportsbook & Casino).

Deposit to Fantasy Wallet (Betr Picks & Arcade)

  1. While in the Picks or Arcade product, navigate to your Account/Wallet section

  2. Click "Deposit"

  3. Input the amount you would like to deposit

  4. Choose your desired deposit method

  5. Submit deposit

Purchase in Social Wallet (Social Sportsbook & Casino)

  1. While in the Sportsbook or Casino product, navigate to your Account/Wallet section

  2. Click "Add to Wallet"

  3. Select the bundle you would like to purchase

  4. Select your payment method

Note: PayPal and Venmo are not supported for Social Sportsbook or Social Casino.

Payment Methods

Supported methods by wallet

Wallet

Supported methods

Fantasy Wallet (Betr Picks & Arcade)

Visa/Mastercard debit, PayPal (linked to a bank account), Venmo (linked to a bank account), online banking/bank transfer

Social Wallet (Social Sportsbook & Casino)

Visa/Mastercard debit, online banking/bank transfer only

PayPal and Venmo are not supported on Social Sportsbook or Casino, even though they work on Fantasy Wallet.

Never eligible to fund your account

  • Prepaid cards: gift cards, employee pay cards, Cash App cards, Apple Cash cards. A deposit on a prepaid card may go through, but the card will need to go through the standard due diligence process to be removed, and you will likely be unable to withdraw to it.

  • Fantasy Wallet: make a minimum $10 deposit with the new method

  • Social Wallet: make a purchase with the new method (from the Account section, select "Add to Wallet")

PayPal

Steps to link your bank account with PayPal:

  1. Go to Wallet.

  2. Click Link a card or bank.

  3. Click Link a bank account.

  4. Search for your bank or select it from the list.

  5. You can link your bank instantly by entering your bank login details. If the instant option isn't available, enter your bank account details manually and click Agree and Link.

Important information

  • You must have a bank account linked to your PayPal account via routing number.

  • If you only have a debit card linked or PayPal funds, it will not be visible while attempting a deposit, forcing you to abort the transaction.

Updating an expired card

If your card expired and you received a replacement with the same card number but a new expiration date, you can update it in-app:

  1. Initiate a deposit/purchase

  2. On the choose method screen, the expired card will be labeled "EXPIRED" in red

  3. Select it and click "Update Expired Card"

  4. Input the new expiration date (MM/YY)

If your replacement card has a different card number, the expired card must be removed and the new one linked via a fresh deposit or purchase instead.

Deposit & Purchase Limits

As part of responsible gaming, players 18–25 have a default limit of $5,000/month when opening their account. All players can set or adjust their own daily, weekly, and monthly limits at any time.

Limits apply across deposits (Picks & Arcade) and purchases (Social Sportsbook & Casino) combined — it's a single limit, not separate per product. For example, if your monthly limit is $500, your deposits and purchases together cannot exceed $500 that month.

How to check or change your limit

  1. Navigate to your Account/Wallet section

  2. Scroll down and select Gaming limits

  3. Select Deposit limits

  4. Input the daily, weekly, and monthly limits you'd like to set

  • More restrictive limits take effect immediately

  • Less restrictive (increased) limits require a 30-day cooldown, then must be confirmed in-app before taking effect

  • Once you reach the limit, you can't deposit or purchase further in that period

Why Was My Deposit or Purchase Declined?

Deposit/purchase rejections usually happen when the payment processor or your bank declines the transaction. Betr typically can't see the specific reason a processor rejected a transaction — your bank can usually provide more detail.

Common reasons

  • Your financial institution restricts online gaming/gambling transactions

  • Insufficient funds

  • Incorrect card details (number, name, billing address)

  • Unsupported payment method (e.g., prepaid cards, Cash App, Apple Cash)

  • Billing address on file with your bank doesn't match — note the address on file with Betr does not apply here

  • Specific banks (e.g., Capital One, PNC, Woodforest) commonly block gambling transactions

  • Frozen or blocked debit card

  • Cooldown period: after multiple failed attempts, deposits/purchases may be temporarily restricted for 24–48 hours

Steps to resolve

  1. Try an alternative payment method — PayPal, Venmo, debit card, or bank transfer (Note: PayPal/Venmo only apply to Fantasy Wallet)

  2. Verify your personal and payment details match exactly, including billing address — update with your bank/card issuer directly if needed, then notify Betr Support to remove and re-add the card

  3. Contact your bank to check for restrictions, fraud alerts, or gaming-transaction blocks

  4. Wait out the 24–48 hour cooldown period before retrying after multiple failed attempts

FAQ

Is there a deposit minimum?

Yes, the current minimum deposit is $10.

Can I use a prepaid card to fund my account?

No. Prepaid cards (gift cards, employee pay cards, Cash App cards, Apple Cash cards) are not permitted. A deposit may go through, but you'll likely be unable to withdraw to that method, and the card will need to go through a standard due-diligence removal process.

Can I use the same payment method for Fantasy and Social wallets?

Yes, but it must be linked separately in each wallet — linking it in Fantasy doesn't automatically link it in Social, or vice versa.

Can I Cancel or Refund a Deposit/Purchase?

Betr is unable to process a refund of a deposit or purchase directly. You'll need to initiate a withdrawal or redemption back to the source to get funds back to your bank account. If you're unable to initiate a withdrawal/redemption, contact Support for assistance.

Why Were Funds Taken From My Bank Account Even Though My Deposit Didn't Go Through?

If your deposit was rejected, your financial institution may have placed a temporary hold on the funds. Once unclaimed, your bank releases the funds back to your account — this usually takes 1–5 days, depending on your financial institution.

When will I be charged after depositing?

Debit Card

  • Depending on your financial institution, you should see the hold charge instantly. It can take a few business days to post.

Paypal / Venmo

  • You should see the charge instantly in your Paypal or Venmo account but can take 1-5 business days to clear from your bank account, depending on your financial institution.

Bank Transfer

  • It can take 1-5 business days for the transaction to be charged to your account, depending on the financial institution. It is very important to ensure the amount deposited is still available in your bank account balance to ensure the payment clears.

  • If the payment is returned or cannot be collected, additional collection attempts may be made, and fees may apply. See this article for more information.
