Polymarket US, a CFTC-designated contract market, is now available right inside the Betr app. With Predictions powered by Polymarket US on Betr, you can trade event contracts on the outcome of sporting events without ever leaving Betr.
A prediction market is an exchange where people trade event contracts based on what they think will happen. By buying and selling contracts on an outcome, participants collectively forecast how likely an event is to occur.
How it works
Market prices reflect implied probabilities. The price of a contract on Polymarket US reflects the market's current implied probability of an event happening. If a contract is trading at 20 cents, the market is implying roughly a 20% chance that event occurs.
Making predictions
If you believe the likelihood of an event is higher than what the market price suggests, you can buy contracts. For example, if you think a team actually has better than a 20% chance of winning, you could buy contracts at 20 cents. If the event happens, each contract settles at $1.00, and your gain is the difference, less fees. If the event does not happen, each contract settles at $0.00, and you lose the full 20 cents you paid per contract, plus fees.
Buying and selling before the event ends
On Predictions via Betr, you can place orders to buy or sell your contracts while a market is open for trading, adjusting your position as new information comes in or circumstances change. Whether an order fills, and at what price, depends on available liquidity in the order book. Prices update continuously as traders react to new information.
With Polymarket US now built into Betr, you can trade event contracts on a wide range of sporting events, all from within the Betr app.
Some people may not trade certain contracts. You may not trade on confidential information about a contract's outcome if using it would violate a duty of trust or confidence, trade on such information passed to you by someone who owed that duty, or trade if you, or someone directing your trades, can influence the outcome. Current and former players, coaches, and staff of the relevant organizations, employees of the event organizer, owners, and their household members and immediate family may be restricted. See the Polymarket US market integrity rules (https://integrity.polymarket.us) and each contract's terms.
